In about 1989 or 1990 I worked at Advanced Waterjet and we needed to hire a machine operator. There was no such thing as a trained waterjet operator at that time, so we took a chance and hired a crazy Hawaiian bartender to run the machine for us. That turned out to be about the best hiring decision I ever made, because Geno turned out to be about the best waterjet machine operator that ever lived. Geno had a natural knack for making the machine sing, and he was always a pleasant face around the shop. He was always there when we needed something done right the first time and always quick to make us all smile.

Later in my career when I worked for waterjet machine manufacturers I always said that to make the machines we built as good as they could possibly be, we needed to have it cut like Geno. We needed Geno in the machine.

My condolences to his family. He was a very good man.

Geno, I am so sad that you have made your way to Heaven and I did not get to say Goodbye or hug your neck one more time. I love you and have soo many wonderful memories of you. Teaching me to put salt on pineapple, amazing! Loving my little Katie and taking her on adventures everyday when you finished working, almost breaking Denis’ hand when he tried to catch that frisbee, always willing to teach me about water jet cutting and loving me like the brother I never had. Your love for your family was inspiring. I always hoped I would find someone who would love me the way you did Doreena. Of all my memories of AWC, you are always in them. I love you and think you were one of the Best Men I have ever know. You are one of a kind! I will see you again someday and I will get that hug. I will pray for peace and comfort your family. Until we meet again, I Love You, Geno!
