Obituary

Teddy Jane (Wheatley) Carpenter, age 77, was reunited with her parents in Heaven on February 5, 2021. She lived a life that focused on God, Faith, and Love. She taught her family about how the simplest things in life can bring you the greatest joys.

Teddy was brought into this world on December 29, 1943 in a home on Williams St. in Waxahachie. She was named after one of the doctors that delivered her, Ted Curby. He came to the house for the delivery because they were not allowed in the hospital due to an influenza epidemic that broke out in 1943. Teddy had a great childhood, growing up near Buena Vista and attended school in Waxahachie. At the age of 16 she married her best friend and love of her life, Tony Carpenter. Teddy went on to receive her cosmetology license to pursue a career as a hairstylist in which she worked for over 20 years. Her second job was working alongside her husband in ministry. Tony and Teddy moved to Maypearl in 1971 where Tony became the preacher at Maypearl Church of Christ serving the community, and building their lifelong home.

Teddy had a lot of things that brought enjoyment to her life. One of these was cooking. She used her talent of cooking to bring people into their home, and through food and conversations, was able to lead people to Christ. One of her family’s fondest memories was Sunday lunch. This became a tradition for her family that all her kids and grandkids looked forward to. This was the foundation of the Carpenter family. She also enjoyed collecting knick-knacks for her home. She would find these at garage sales, thrift stores, anywhere she could shop with her girls. She enjoyed looking for cardinals, cookbooks, denim days, dishes, bears, and enjoyed assembling flower arrangements. Of all the blessings in Teddy’s life, her greatest pleasure was spending time with her family where they shared their passion and love for singing. Teddy had a beautiful soprano voice. It was known that if the family did not start on key, Teddy would demand they start over. Through her love of Christ and acapella music, she has instilled a strong faith in her family that will live on through generations.

Teddy will be remembered as a faithful, Christian woman. She had the deepest love for her family and was known for exuding positivity and peace. Her heart was full of love and kindness. Teddy was always motivating and encouraging her family to work hard and live a life you can be proud of. Teddy taught us many lessons, but most of all, she taught us to forgive and “Keep God’s plan for us first in our daily lives”.

Left to cherish her precious life is her devoted husband of 61 years, Aaron Lee (Tony) Carpenter of Maypearl, Texas; children, Toni Jane Mulvany and husband Steve of Maypearl. Todd Carpenter and wife Glenda of Katy, Texas. Tamberley Harmon and husband Kevin of Maypearl and Ted Carpenter and wife Bree of Maypearl; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Drake and husband James, Erik Harmon and wife Kaylee, Kourtney Hodge and husband Blake, Ty Carpenter, Thomas Cole Carpenter, Aubree Carpenter and Tate Carpenter; 3 precious great-grandchildren, Brookelyn and Kennedy Drake, and Krew Hodge. She is also survived by her brother, Bill Wheatley and wife Linda; sister, Brenda Appleton and husband Ronald and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who all loved her dearly.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Lovedia Viola (Holland) and Lucius Harold Wheatley and her in-laws, Edward and Christine Carpenter.

Visitation for family and friends will be from 6:00-8:00 PM, Monday, February 8, 2021 at Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, February 9, 2021, at Maypearl Church of Christ. Interment will follow at Maypearl Cemetery.

The service will be live streamed for all who will not be able to attend.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maypearl Church of Christ.

Arrangements are under the direction of Boze-Mitchell-McKibbin Funeral Home, 511 West Main Street, Waxahachie, Texas.

I had a good memory seeing Teddy at Brees when Tate and Aubree opened up presents this year. Brees family and I decorated their house and tree for the morning when they would open presents. I remember her being so happy to see Teds hard work on the house and she loved the decorations. She was so happy watching the kids open present. We enjoyed waffles and good conversation. The night before the kids asked Bree if the grand parents could please watch them open presents and of course Bree said yes. She had a sweet smile and was very joyful.
